Dr. Zeinab Arabeyyat's participation in OceanX Expedition in Jordan July, 2022

Dr. Zeinab Arabeyyat participated in the scientific mission on board the global research vessel OceanXplorer that visited the Gulf of Aqaba in July 2022, where Dr. Arabeyyat participated in two important scientific research by conducting special research in the field of “Determination of Microplastics levels and evaluations of marine litter in the deep sea-floor at the Jordanian Gulf of Aqaba” and “Molecular Identification of Sponges, Corals and Symbiotic Dinoflagellate in Corals in the Gulf of Aqaba” in partnership with the OceanX.The mission lasted eight days.Dr. Arabeyyat and her team – consisting of researchers, Dr.Mais Sweiss from Al-Balqa’ Applied University and Farah Manna a Research Assistant at the University of Jordan worked together with OceanX in discovering the Microplastic pollution in the Gulf of Aqaba, and discovering the molecular diversity of corals and sponge speciesin the Gulf of Aqaba at an unreached depth of 800 metersfor the first time.​
