Talk by Dr. Jenna on "Plastic Waste Input into the Ocean: Can we come together to solve this global problem?”



The Faculty of Marine Sciences, represented by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Zibdeh and in collaboration with the Regional Environment, Science, Technology and Health Office (Middle East and North Africa), organized a lecture titled " Plastic Waste Input into the Ocean: Can we work together to solve this global problem?. Dr. Jenna Jambeck, an associate professor at the University of Georgia (USA), gave the lecture on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the auditorium on the campus of the University of Jordan, Aqaba Branch. She discussed the effects of pollution problems resulted from marine debris and plastic wastes on marine environment. Some issues related to the marine environment at the Gulf of Aqaba were discussed with attendees, and the importance of increasing environmental awareness between people was emphasized​. A meeting was held between academic staff and guests from US.embassy in Amman to discuss  the foundation of joint cooperation between the University of Jordan and the University of Georgia.​
