The School of Basic and Marine Sciences at the University of Jordan, Aqaba Branch, organized the final conference for the Plastic Busters CAP project on Wednesday, 11/8/2023, with the participation of a number of partner countries in the project: Italy, Greece, Tunisia, Egypt, and Lebanon.
Researchers in the project from all countries reviewed their results, which included collecting and analyzing samples, which are samples floating on the surface of the water and waste on the beaches, to clarify the percentage of microplastic in them, in addition to various plastic pollutants and cigarette butts, where their impact on the marine environment with all its components and the pollution occurring on the beaches will be studied. Because of these harmful wastes and their impact on human health.
The conference was held in a hybrid conference manner at the Intercontinental Aqaba Hotel, where researchers from Jordan presented their results in person, while participants from other countries presented their results to the audience online.
The conference was attended by those in charge of the project from Jordan, researchers from the School of Basic and Marine Sciences, School students, and a number of relevant institutions and stakeholder in the city of Aqaba.
